Chauncey Parsons came to OBT during our 2008/2009 season, when the company was under the direction of Christopher Stowell. At that time, with two successful seasons at State Street Ballet in Santa Barbara and six with Colorado Ballet in Denver, he could probably have gone to any number of companies around the country, but he chose us. We’re SO glad he did.
For over a decade, his remarkable artistry and athleticism have garnered critical accolades and the admiration of all who saw him. He shone as Prince Florimund in Christopher Stowell’s The Sleeping Beauty, commanded the stage as the title character in George Balanchine’s The Prodigal Son, and proved a formidable Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, not to mention the dozens of other classical and contemporary roles that he danced from throughout OBT’s repertoire.
As a member of the teaching faculty at OBT School, Chauncey’s impact has extended far beyond the stage. His generous spirit, technical prowess, and passion for the art form is appreciated by his students and peers alike
If you are interested in recognizing his years of dancing at OBT with a donation in his honor, Chauncey has identified several areas of personal interest that would be meaningful to him, including:
